Career Guidance Day
Our Career Guidance and Subject Choice for Grade 9 learners has been running for the second consecutive time in 2023.
Organized as a small Expo, with delegate stands in the Main Hall of Groendal Secondary School this day is aimed at helping Grade 9 learners make more informed choices on their future subjects.
Grade 10 tends to be the grade with the highest number of dropouts in South Africa, as children often chose the wrong subjects in Grade 9 and subsequently lose interest in school.
Vocational skills and alternative training options to Tertiary education are explored for the less Academic learners, and FRANCO bursaries are announced for those who fear the Tertiary education commitment because of financial constraints.
The sectors represented during the event range from the Police and Paramedics to the Environment and Fire Protection, Teaching, Sport & Recreation, Farming and Hospitality, Animal care and SPCA, etc.
